Oahe Power Surge Tournament – Weather Policy

Saturday Schedule:

1. We will follow the original game schedule (playing 75 minute time limit) up until one hour past start time of first game (8:00 AM moving to 9:00 AM)

2. Once we have delayed the start time of the games for more than one hour, we will lower the time limit for each game by 5 minutes for each additional 45 minute delay (9:45 AM start will result in 70 minute time limit, 10:30 AM start will result in 65 minute time limit).

3. Once we have delayed the start time of the games for more than three hours, we will lower the time limit for each game to 60 minutes. At this point, we will also institute a “drop dead” rule for all games. The “drop dead” rule will end all games at the point the clock on the scoreboard runs out. The game will end, with the game score at clock expiration being recorded as the game score. We will not revert back to the last completed inning, nor will we finish the current inning.

4. Games on Saturday will be allowed to end in a tie; therefore no extra innings will be played to break ties.

Sunday Schedule:

3. Once we have delayed the start time of the games for more than three hours, we will reduce the bracket in each championship division to four teams. For example, the U14 “B” division championship bracket consists of 7 teams. When we cross the three hour delay threshold, the bottom three seeds (numbers 5, 6 & 7) will be eliminated from the bracket. This will allow us to play three games to determine each division champion.

4. In the event that a weather delay extends to a point where four team championship brackets will not allow us to determine a champion in a reasonable amount of time, we will attempt to play a single championship game between the #1 and #2 seeds in each division.

These guidelines will be used to determine our policy should we be forced into a delay by weather. However, the tournament staff of the Oahe Power Surge Tournament reserves the right to modify these guidelines as weather and field conditions dictate.

It is the intention of the tournament directors to play as many games as possible on both Saturday and Sunday. We appreciate your understanding of dealing with weather and field related delays.
